Peranan Guru Bahasa Indonesia dalam Meningkatkan Keterampilan Membaca Siswa di Kelas VIII SMP Al- Ismailiyah Tambelangan Sampang
Abstract
Teachers have a very important and strategic role in national development, especially in the field of education. According to the statutory definition, a teacher is an educator with the main task of educating, teaching, guiding, directing, training, assessing and evaluating students. As a professional job, teaching basically requires teachers to uphold and implement the idea of professionalism. This includes established qualifications, competencies and certifications. The problem in this research is: to what extent is the role of Indonesian language teachers in developing the reading skills of students at VII Al-Ismailiyah Middle School, Ombul Beringin, Tambelangan, Sampang. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The data sources are teachers and students. Meanwhile, data collection procedures use interviews, observation and documentation. Furthermore, the validity of the data used is: credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. Data analysis using Data Reduction, display, Conclusion Drawing / Verification. The research stages: Preparation, Fieldwork, Data processing. The results of this research show that: First, the teacher's task as an educator is to provide guidance and direction to students, encourage them to use their free time to read, and invite them to the library. Second, the teacher's task as an instructor is to provide tasks such as creating stories, among other tasks. Third, the teacher acts as an initiator by providing innovative ideas that are in accordance with current developments, have extensive knowledge, and understand the context in which his students are.
