Potensi pengaruh batuan andesit terhadap peningkatan sulfur di batubara sektor andesit pt asmin bara bronang daerah kabupaten kapuas kalimantan tengah
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine how the intrusion of andesite rock affects the total sulfur (TS) content in coal in the Kapuas area, Central Kalimantan, particularly at the PT Asmin Bara Bronang mining site. The geochemical quality of coal can be influenced by andesite intrusion through changes in temperature, pressure, and hydrothermal reactions. These hydrothermal reactions lead to the formation of secondary sulfur minerals such as pyrite (FeS₂). For this study, coal samples were taken from areas intruded by andesite and non-andesite. Then, the samples were evaluated proximately according to the ASTM D3172-13 standard. The analysis of 1,274 data points shows that the sulfur content in the andesite area is 0.569%, which is higher than the 0.540% found in the non-andesite area, with a difference of 0.028% and a p-value of 0.0167 (less than 0.05), meaning the difference is statistically significant. The hydrothermal alteration process, which increases the concentration of sulfur in coal, is suspected to cause the increased distribution of sulfur in the andesite region. The findings are supported by visual representations and boxplots, which display a broader range of sulfur values and a higher occurrence in the subseam within the andesite area. This study found that andesite intrusion increases the sulfur content of coal. This effect impacts combustion quality, the potential formation of acid mine drainage (AMD), and a sustainable mining management approach. Variations between sub-seams influenced by fractures, rock permeability, and fluid pathways in the area necessitate local evaluation.
