Peran digital stress terhadap kinerja karyawan pada generasi Z
Abstract
This study aims to examine the role of digital stress on employee performance among Generation Z in Indonesia. The advancement of digital technology in the workplace has given rise to digital stress, a psychological pressure that may reduce employee performance, particularly among Generation Z, who are vulnerable to multitasking demands and difficulties separating personal life from work. This study employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative design, involving 206 Generation Z employees aged 18-29 years selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected online using the Digital Stressors Scale (DSS) and the Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (IWPQ), and analyzed through construct validity and reliability testing (CFA), normality testing, and simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that digital stress has a significant negative effect on employee performance (β = -.3649; p < .001), contributing 13.3% to the variance in employee performance. These findings align with the Job Demands-Resources framework, which explains that high digital work demands can deplete employees' cognitive and emotional energy, thereby reducing performance. Therefore, companies are advised to provide adequate technical support, establish policies separating work and personal time, and offer psychological well-being programs for Generation Z employees.
