Abstract

Patient safety is a basic competency that nursing students must possess before entering clinical practice to support safe care. This study aims to analyze the relationship between Patient safety knowledge domains and their level of Patient safety knowledge. This quantitative study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 39 students in the Diploma Three Nursing Program at Bunda Thamrin University were selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been declared valid and reliable, then analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test (α=0.05). Most respondents had a sufficient level of knowledge (51.3%). The analysis revealed a significant relationship between patient identification (χ²=5.328; p=0.021), effective communication (χ²=4.510; p=0.034), and error and infection prevention (χ²=6.857; p=0.009) and students' level of Patient safety knowledge. These findings indicate that students with better mastery of these three domains tend to have better levels of Patient safety knowledge. Strengthening integrated Patient safety learning is necessary to improve students' readiness to apply Patient safety principles during education and clinical practice.
