EKSPLORASI PESERTA DIDIK DALAM MENGIKUTI EKSTRAKURIKULER BULU TANGKIS DI MADRASAH IBTIDAIYAH ANNAHDIYAH SURABAYA
Abstract
This study explores student participation in badminton extracurricular activities at MI Annahdiyah Surabaya. It aims to describe student responses, identify internal and external factors shaping interest, and examine how digital technology and lifestyle changes relate to participation. A descriptive qualitative survey was conducted in May 2026. Informants included the principal, vice principals for student affairs and facilities, a guidance counselor, the extracurricular coach, and five purposively selected students. Data were collected through non-participant observation, structured in-depth interviews, and documentation. Analysis followed data condensation, data display, conclusion drawing, and verification, while credibility was strengthened through source and technique triangulation and member checking. The findings show highly positive student responses, reflected in attendance above 85%, enthusiasm during practice, and independent practice outside scheduled sessions. Interest was shaped by internal factors - achievement motivation, talent, and aspirations - and external factors - family support, the coach's role, peer influence, and facility availability. Family support emerged as the most prominent external factor. Digital technology had an ambivalent influence: uncontrolled screen exposure could divert attention from physical activity, whereas match videos and tutorials supported learning and strengthened interest when guided by parents and teachers. Sustained participation therefore depends on the interaction of personal motivation and a supportive social and school environment.
