Self-Care Dismenore Berbasis Bahan Alami dan Intensitas Nyeri Pada Mahasiswa Kebidanan
Abstract
Dysmenorrhea refers to the medical term for pain during menstruation. Dysmenorrhea has a significant impact on daily activities. Self-care can be done through the use of medications, lifestyle modifications, exercise, warm compresses, or the use of natural ingredients. This study aims to analyze the use of natural ingredients as a form of self-care for dysmenorrhea and its relationship with pain intensity in midwifery students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The research instrument used a questionnaire, analyzed descriptively in a quantitative way. The results showed that 93.8% of respondents experienced dysmenorrhea, with 94.6% reporting mild pain. Self-care using natural ingredients done by the respondents included turmeric drinks (23.1%) and temulawak drinks (11.5%), while 34% of respondents used aromatherapy consisting of orange (13.2%), peppermint (1.9%), olive oil (13.2%), lemon (3.8%), and lavender flowers (1.9%). There is a relationship between pain intensity and self-care with a p-value of 0.001. It is recommended to provide education about natural materials that can be used as self-care for dysmenorrhea. Future studies are expected to explore more deeply other factors that affect the use of natural materials in reproductive health issues.
