Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not there was 1) the influence of the ice breaking method on students' interest in learning Christian Religious Education and character education subjects in class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Tarutung in the 2024/2025 academic year; 2) the influence of teacher educational interaction on students' interest in learning Christian Religious Education and character education subjects in class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Tarutung in the 2024/2025 academic year; and 3) the influence of the ice breaking method and teacher educational interaction on students' interest in learning Christian Religious Education and character education subjects in class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Tarutung in the 2024/2025 academic year. The method used in this study is the inferential quantitative method. The population was all students of Class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Tarutung in the 2024/2025 Academic Year as many as 159 people and a sample of 80 people was determined using the random sampling technique. The instrument trial was conducted on 30 students of class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Tarutung in the 2024/2025 Academic Year so that it was known that all research instruments were declared valid and reliable because they met the validity and reliability value criteria. Based on the results of the analysis using the coefficient of determination test, the influence of variables X1 and X2 together on Y was 42.1%, thus Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected.
