THE EFFECT OF POINT-COUNTERPOINT TECHNIQUE TOWARDS STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL SEEN FROM SELF-CONFIDENCE
Abstract
This research aimed at finding the effect of point-counterpoint technique towards students’ speaking skill seen from self-confidence a study of eleventh grade students’ of SMAN 1 Jereweh. This research kind of experimental research. The research design was pre experimental and applied one group pre-test and post-test design. The population of this research was eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Jereweh. The researcher took XI IPA I that consisted of 30 students as experimental group. This class was chosen by accidental sampling technique. Speaking test was applied as the instrument. The score was analized by using descriptive and inferential analysis. It was revealed that the t-test was 11.081 and t-table was 2.045 with degree of freedom (df) is 29. However, it was shown that t-test is higher than t-table. Therefore, the result of this research showing Point-counterpoint technique has significant effect towards students self-confidence in speaking at SMAN 1 Jereweh.
