PERSEPSI DAN PERILAKU MASYARAKAT DESA SUWUG TERHADAP TANAMAN KITOLOD SEBAGAI OBAT KONJUNGTIVITIS (STUDI KUALITATIF)
Abstract
Background: The incidence of conjunctivitis in Indonesia currently ranks second out of 10 major eye diseases. There are various treatments that can be done by the community to treat this disease, from conventional medicine to herbs. Preliminary studies conducted on the people of Suwug Village show that the community uses kitolod plants as eye drops. Research Objective: Knowing the perceptions and behavior of the community towards the use of kitolod plants for conjunctivitis. Method: This study uses a qualitative approach, namely ethnographic studies. Interviews were conducted with 5 people from Suwug Village. Data coding is done using the NVIVO application. The theme is built from the informant's perspective. Data validation was carried out by source triangulation in the form of member checking. Results: Knowledge of kitolod plants as traditional medicine has been passed down from generation to generation by the people in Suwug Village. Kitolod plants themselves can grow wild in the yard. Based on personal experience, people believe that the kitolod plant can treat conjunctivitis. Communities have different ways of processing but have the same goal. Conclusion: Kitolod plant is a wild plant that can be used as traditional medicine. This plant has been used for generations by the people of Suwug Village. There are different processing methods, namely the kitolod plant and betel leaves are only soaked in a container filled with hot water.
