Abstract

Globalization and religious pluralism have brought significant changes to the lives of urban communities, including the way people understand religion and spirituality. This condition presents both challenges and opportunities for the church in carrying out its mission of evangelism. Therefore, the church needs to develop ministry strategies that are contextual and adaptive to the dynamics of heterogeneous urban societies. This study aims to analyze the strategic management of the church in urban evangelism as well as the church’s response to the challenges of globalization and religious pluralism. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research involved eight informants consisting of church leaders, mission workers, community ministry leaders, and congregation members who are actively involved in church ministry activities. The data were analyzed through several stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the church develops several evangelism strategies in urban communities, including relational approaches with society, the development of ministry communities, the implementation of social services, and the utilization of digital media in disseminating the message of the gospel. These strategies enable the church to build more open relationships with pluralistic communities. This study concludes that church evangelism strategies need to be contextual, dialogical, and adaptive to the development of globalization and the diversity of society.
